What is ClariVein® treatment?

ClariVein® is the latest endovascular procedure pioneered in the USA with internationally recognised surgeons to treat Varicose Veins and venous diseases. In 2012, our doctor was the first vein doctor in the private healthcare sector to conduct this treatment in Singapore.

Using ultrasound guidance, the ClariVein® infusion catheter, a narrow flexible tube, is accurately introduced under the vein. The ClariVein® catheter is then used to concentrate the targeted infusion of liquid sclerosant to block forward flow of the diseased varicose veins.

Clarivein® treatment thus cures the varicose vein so that it will vanish over a short period. This is all achieved through a single pin hole technology.

Benefits of ClariVein® in Singapore

1. No Hospitalisation necessary
ClariVein® is a quick and effective treatment that can be done as a day procedure. At Pacific Healthcare, there is a room specially designed for vascular treatments, including ClariVein®. This offers patients a convenient one-stop solution where Dr Cheng can take care of the treatment every step of the way, from pre and post-procedure consultations, ultrasounds, and vascular treatment needs.

2. Minimally Invasive and Safer
With the quick day procedure and tiny incisions, ClariVein® is a minimally invasive procedure that offers immediate relief from the symptoms. Using heat to treat the vein, thermal techniques such as laser or radio frequency can lead to nerve injuries and skin burns. ClariVein® is safer than these techniques as no heat is used.

3. No Scars and minimal bruising
Compared to other similar techniques such as EVLT, the improved technology in ClariVein® has greatly decreased pain levels, discomfort and minimal bruising during and after the procedure. The latest technology disrupts the lining of the vein and allows the use of a drug to effectively close the vein.

Post ClariVein®
Patients are encouraged to walk immediately after the procedure. Patients can resume their normal exercise activities but should avoid excessive exertion and standing still for long periods of time. Patients are advised to wear the compression garments for the first 6 weeks after surgery for comfort. Here are some tips to prevent varicose veins from occurring again.

Why choose treatments by our doctor?
Varicose veins sometimes leads to other severe medical problems such as chronic venous insufficiency. You may be having more complicated issues such as deep vein thrombosis. For early detection of such life threatening diseases, it is important to have proper diagnosis and treatment by a vascular and endovascular specialist.

Being among the few vascular and endovascular trained surgeons in Singapore and with the upgrades in our clinic facilities, our doctor can provide a one stop comprehensive services from diagnosis to treatment. Our doctor was also one of the first surgeons in private healthcare to use Clarivein to treat varicose veins in Singapore.

During the assessment of your varicose veins, our doctor will determine if you will need a Sonography (vascular ultrasound) examination to diagnose for issues in the veins hidden deeper in your legs. This can be done onsite during the same consultation as he is one of the few vascular surgeons specially trained in performing vascular ultrasound.

This allows our doctor to explain the results to you immediately and prescribe a customised treatment, which may or may not be Clarivein, for you that is best suited for your body and preferences.
