Flebogrif® is a minimally invasive, HSA-Approved medical device used to treat chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins of the lower limbs. This method utilises two mechanisms – mechanical and chemical – to close off the diseased or faulty veins, diverting blood flow from the foot to the normal functioning deep vein.
Under ultrasound guidance, the lining of the damaged vein is irritated, and the sclerosing agent is administered simultaneously to shrink and close the treated vein.
Select patients are eligible for full MediSave reimbursement for the procedure. Please enquire with our clinic to check if you qualify for reimbursement.
Flebogrif® is minimally invasive and can be performed in a clinic under local anaesthesia without the need for hospitalisation. No implants are left inside the vein, and everything is removed after the procedure.
As Flebogrif® can be performed in ambulatory conditions, there is minimal downtime, with patients capable of walking immediately after the procedure. Hence, they can resume normal activities quickly.
Unlike conventional catheter-based procedures using radiofrequency or laser energy, Flebogrif® does not require heat emission. As a result, there is no risk of damage to the nerve, allowing for quick recovery after treatment.
For Singaporeans and PRs, Flebogrif® is Medisave-claimable, which reduces out-of-pocket expenses. This makes the treatment more affordable and accessible, ensuring that more individuals can benefit from this medical procedure.
If you are interested in learning more about Flebogrif® and whether it is a suitable treatment method, contact us to schedule an appointment with our doctor for a consultation. Our doctor will conduct a general physical examination and map out the severity and anatomy of the faulty vein to determine if the procedure is suitable.
You may also be requested to undergo a pre-operative ultrasound/doppler examination as part of the preparation for treatment.
As Flebogrif® is an outpatient treatment, you can resume your daily activities without a problem after the procedure. Although, our doctor may request that you remain at our clinic for observation for a few hours.
You may be required to wear compression hosiery for up to 2 weeks to help your veins heal correctly. Our doctor will also recommend walking for no more than 15 minutes with 30 minutes rest in between for 2 weeks and avoiding direct sunlight exposure for a period of time after the procedure.
