The VenaSeal Closure System is the latest treatment for varicose veins which improves blood flow by closing the defective vein. This procedure is minimally invasive and uses a specially formulated medical adhesive to seal the affected veins.
How it works
The vascular surgeon will use ultrasound to guide and position a small catheter into the defective vein. The VenaSeal dispenser is then used to deliver a small quantity of medical adhesive to glue the diseased vein shut. Once the diseased vein is sealed, blood is re-routed to other healthy veins.
Benefits of VenaSeal
VenaSeal treatment is safe and less invasive because, unlike traditional treatments using heat like radiofrequency ablation, you will not be exposed to the risk of nerve damage and skin burns. With VenaSeal, there is no need to inject anesthesia into the affected leg using multiple needle sticks. Only local anesthetic is used to numb the site where the vein is accessed, which reduces recovery time and discomfort for the patient.
Patients undergoing VenaSeal treatment can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure which takes around one hour.
Why choose treatments by our doctor?
Varicose veins if left untreated can lead to severe medical conditions such as chronic venous insufficiency and deep vein thrombosis. It is important to be diagnosed and treated by a vascular specialist.
Being among the first vascular surgeons in Singapore to use VenaSeal, and together with advanced clinical facilities, our doctor can provide one stop services from diagnosis to treatment.
When assessing your varicose veins, our doctor will determine whether you need a vascular ultrasound (Sonography) examination to detect issues in the veins hidden deep beneath the skin. This can be done in the same consultation session as he is one of the few vascular surgeons specially trained in performing vascular ultrasound.
Our doctor will be able to explain the diagnosis to you right after the ultrasound and recommend a suitable treatment that is best suited for your body and preferences.
